Collection: Nets & Gaffs

Choosing between a net and a gaff comes down to whether you intend to release your catch or keep it. Landing nets, like the Shurhold Shur-LOK and the Attwood Fold-N-Stow, are the right call for catch-and-release fishing or when you want to bring a fish aboard without damage. The Attwood folds flat for boats with tight storage, while the Shur-LOK nets connect to Shurhold's modular handle system, which is worth confirming you already own or plan to buy. Shurhold also offers a crab net and a shrimp and shad dip net in that same Shur-LOK format, so one handle serves multiple tools. Gaff hooks from Swobbit and Shurhold suit larger fish you plan to keep, and the Swobbit option is stainless steel, which holds up better in saltwater.

Frabill covers two different needs here. Their seine nets come in five lengths from four feet square up to four by twenty-five feet, and the right size depends on how much shoreline or bottom you want to sweep for baitfish. Longer seines cover more ground but take more hands to work effectively. Frabill also makes a dedicated net and gaff holder for keeping gear organized and accessible on deck rather than tangled underfoot. If you are outfitting a boat where quick access matters, that holder is a practical addition alongside whichever nets or gaffs you choose.
